The Role

As an Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing critical IT infrastructure and cloud services. Working alongside infrastructure, security, and application teams, you will help ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and scalable while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the technology estate.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to enterprise-scale environments within the defence sector while developing your cloud and infrastructure expertise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and associated services.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and infrastructure automation tools.
  • Manage Active Directory services, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support infrastructure deployments, upgrades, and operational activities.
  • Collaborate with security teams to maintain compliance and security best practices.
  • Assist with incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to infrastructure documentation and operational procedures.
  • Support the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with AWS services including EC2, IAM, S3, VPC, and CloudWatch.
  • Strong Windows Server administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools, security controls, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience within defence, government, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring and observability platforms.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and operational best practices.
