Cloud Engineer – Manchester (Remote) (EU)
About the Role
The Role
As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing highly available cloud infrastructure while contributing to long-term platform scalability, reliability, and operational excellence. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure infrastructure is secure, observable, and aligned with modern cloud best practices.
Key Responsibilities
· Enhance and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud environments and services
· Manage and prioritise cloud infrastructure tasks and operational improvements
· Implement monitoring and observability solutions to proactively identify performance, availability, and security issues
· Owning day-to-day cloud operational activities and infrastructure support
· Evaluate new technologies and services for production readiness and integration
· Maintain clear technical documentation for cloud architectures, processes, and procedures
· Apply AWS framework principles to improve infrastructure reliability and efficiency
· Support occasional out-of-hours cloud deployments when required
· Conduct proof-of-concept testing on emerging AWS services and third-party technologies to support continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
· 3+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services in a commercial environment
· Strong knowledge of AWS services including IAM, S3, KMS, RDS, VPC, ECS, and EC2
· Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience, ideally using Terraform
· Scripting experience using Python, Bash, Node.js, or similar
· Knowledge of cloud security best practices and AWS security services including WAF, GuardDuty, Config, and CloudTrail
· Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tooling, preferably GitLab
· Experience with Git and modern software version control practices
· Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, load balancing, and VPC peering
